Bank Austria Creditanstalt is a Central and Eastern European bank, 94.98% owned by HypoVereinsbank, which is, in turn, 93.93% owned by UniCredito Italiano SpA. UniCredit also owns 71.03% of Poland's largest bank, Bank BPH.
BA-CA's history goes as far back as 1855, the year the Creditanstalt was founded. In 1991, Zentralsparkasse und Kommerzialbank and Oesterreichische Laenderbank merged to form Bank Austria. In 1997, Bank Austria took over Creditanstalt, the country's second-largest bank. In 2000, BA-CA joined forces with HVB Group. Since November 2005, BA-CA has been a member of UniCredit Group. [1]
