Banja

Banja is one of the 105 woredas in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. Part of the Agew Awi Zone, Banja is bordered on the south by Ankesha, on the west by Guangua, on the north by Faggeta Lekoma, and on the east by the Mirab Gojjam Zone. Towns and cities in Banja include Enjebara, Kosa, Kosober and Tilili.

Based on figures published by the Central Statistical Agency in 2005, this woreda has an estimated total population of 208,428, of whom 105,491 were males and 102,937 were females; 17,074 or 8.19% of its population are urban dwellers, which is less than the Zone average of 11.4%. With an estimated area of 832.51 square kilometers, Banja has an estimated population density of 250.4 people per square kilometer, which is greater than the Zone average of 155.7.[1]
