George Harrison's charity single after the disasters in East Pakistan in 1971. Harrison's mentor and friend sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar suggested the subject for this song, and later the collaboration evolved into The Concert for Bangla Desh.
The single's B-Side was "Deep Blue", which until late 2006 had never been released on CD. It was released as a bonus track on the September 26, 2006 reissue of Harrison's Living in the Material World.
"Bangla-Desh" itself has only been released on EMI's compilation album, The Best of George Harrison.
