Bandula Warnapura (born 1 March 1953, Rambukkana) is a former cricketer who captained Sri Lanka in their first Test match. He later became a match referee.
Warnapura captained the Sri Lankan team in their first four Test matches, leading them to three losses and one draw, but making only 96 runs in eight innings despite being selected as a specialist batsman. In ODI cricket, he was a little bit better, recording 77 from 98 balls in the first of two ODIs in Pakistan in 1981-82. However, as the match was played over 33 overs, the slow scoring rate meant that Pakistan were left to chase a low target, and won relatively easily. Warnapura did win his first match as captain, taking one wicket for 47 and scoring 18 as the team beat India at the 1979 World Cup
In the 1982-83 season, he led the Sri Lankan rebel team to tour South Africa. The whole team was banned from Sri Lankan cricket which was subsequently revoked.
