Banana Chan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Banana Chan is a virtual series -- an unproduced series of teleplays, or TV scripts, which Canadian screenwriter Alan Holman posts onto the internet. It is an original virtual serial not following a pre-existing franchise; thus, it has potential for production, and so its web-site is designed as an online pitch -- both to potential producers, and to potential audience members.
[edit] Plot overview
In the year 2008, Banana's sister -- who pretends to be Banana's mother -- calls herself Ko, because Ko was Banana's and hers real mother before the real Ko died in a car accident and was replaced with the look-alike whose real name is Plantane, which is the vegetable "plantain" spelled wrongly. A plantain is a member of the banana family, which is fitting because Plantane is Banana's sister from a potential future time-line.
Plantane lives in the identity of Banana's single-mother named Ko. They live alone -- with koi fish -- until Banana takes home a stray cat and names him Catty.
Catty's real name is 937; he is the cyborg companion of Buster, who is Banana's grandson from the future.
In the future (circa 2048), Buster was two years old when his mother Roko fell from a penthouse atop a skyscraper; her brother, a flying demon-head named Baka, caught her during the fall, and took her directly to hell.
Toddler Buster was unware that his mother was alive in Hell, so he was sent to an orphanage which was part of a secret project called ZombieOrphanSlave. Buster was an average toddler by day who had no idea that he was an efficient killer by night. When he's "activated", he thinks he's sleeping.
Buster spent a year as a ZombieOrphanSlave, although maybe he can be "activated" in the future, and maybe he's constantly being "activated."
On New Years Eve 2049, Buster was three years old, and his half-uncle Baka -- the flying demon-head who took Buster's mother to Hell earlier -- gave Buster an Alcoholic mixture which gives its drinker the "one time, ten-year ability" to disappear, then re-appear in other times. Buster used that power whimsically until he was six years old; that's when he time-travelled to the year 2008. When Buster met his sixteen year-old grandmother Banana, she accidentally injured him, and the injury made him fear time-travel so much that he time-travelled to a NINjA-run boarding school in the 2030s, where he thought he could be safe, but the NINjAs turned out to be an evil cult who brainwashed him into being a ruthless killing machine.
When Baka found out that the NINjAs he trusted to take care of Buster were actually a cult, and that the cult members were allowed to have pets, he implanted 1000 talking cats -- from the planet Catland -- with cybernetic components which gave them perfect memory, and he donated those cats to the school, as gifts for 1000 of the students.
Buster received cat #937.
937's deprogramming of Buster was complete when Buster was twelve years old; that's when Buster escaped.
The twelve year old Buster, and his cat 937, moved into the Chan household in 2008, one week after Banana injured the six year old version of Buster. Six years have passed for Buster, but only one week has passed for Banana.
Buster tells Banana that he is her grandson, and he tells her his story about how his mom died when he was two, how he time-travelled between ages 3-to-6, and how he was a NINjA between ages 6-to-12.
Buster also tells Banana that she'll marry a guy named Rob. Banana doesn't know Rob. Banana has a crush on a guy named James, but there is also a guy named Ryone who has a crush on Banana.
From his time-travels, Buster is aware of the poetry of Ryone Hazuki, the boy who loves Banana. Buster is also aware that Banana never gave Ryone a "fair shake." Buster believes that Ryone is "the one" for Banana, and he plans to meddle in their affairs.
Banana has a super-secret wedding to Rob Nesia, and -- in the year 2009 -- Banana and Rob have a not-so-secret baby together, named Roko.
Banana is a teenaged mother to Roko, and the father -- Rob Nesia -- shrugs off the responsibility.
Plantane hires a nanny for Roko, named Knocko Sashi. Knocko is a fifteen year old girl who is on a Job Placement program from her school, The Fighting-Baby Trainer Nanny School.
When Banana and Rob try to reconcile their differences at a therapy session, Rob tells Banana of his plot to take over the world with ill-gotten diamonds. Rob gets arrested for his plot.
Banana is a teenaged mother to Roko, and the father -- Rob Nesia -- is in jail; that's when Ryone Hazuki -- the boy who loves Banana -- shows up, and tries to help out around the house and get closer to Banana. Banana considers Ryone a friend, and Ryone gets jealous when an American boy named Dorian spends the night ... playing peek-a-boo with Roko.
Rob gets released from prison on a technicality, and a scuffle in a coffee shop ends with both Rob and Ryone walking away from Banana ... but Ryone was only pushing Banana away because unrequited love is a theme in a story he's writing, and he wants to use that story to get rich and save his family from financial difficulties.
