QUINTESSENTIALLY ME

My aim in life is to become a research scientist in cognitive neuroscience - in other words, to understand how the human brain/mind works. The reader ought to know that as of now, he hardly know 1% of our brain's function.

You ought to know that I am quite the self-confessed book-worm; I love poetry and poetic expression. Although a scientist at heart, I love all that is artful, and artfully expressed. I have a particlar like for meta-fiction and descriptive novels - they enrich my vocabulary which has been steadily building. My biggest achievement in writing has thus far been in my poetry blog where I married science and art in a harmonious blend. Though the world hasn't cared to notice, I was quite happy with the outcome.

I love to travel a lot. I want to tour Europe, though my financial constraints limit me to travel even within the country of my residence. However, my visions of my future do guarantee to quench my thirst for visiting new places and meeting new people.

Though the discerned reader might have guessed my talkative nature, from the point that I started writing this journal, I have resolved to adopt a demeanour of silence that is reflective of the wise and the knowledged. It is wise that I hope to become, and I have chosen science as an instrument to confer wisdom upon me, in companionship with every day experiences. I hope the partnership works.

I am a gay rights activist, an HIV/AIDS activist, an advisor for the student medical journal, the studentBMJ; I am equally obsessed about medical journalism as I am about my books and my dreams. I run two Yahoo groups, one for medical professionals, and another for medical professionals who are not heterosexual. I regularly write reviews for Amazon.co.uk and I am the editor of my college magazine.

FAVOURITE QUOTATIONS

"The Sphinx spoke only once. It said, 'A grain of sand is a desert. A desert is a grain of sand. So, let us all be silent again.' I heard the Sphinx. I did not understand."

"We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we began And know our place for the first time."

"... the Sirens have a still more fatal weapon than their songs, namely their silence. Someone might have possibly escaped their song... But from their silence, certainly never."
