Ballwil is a municipality in the district of Hochdorf, in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland.

The municipality lies on the western slope of Mount Lindenberg, near the Reuss River. The main village and many numerous hamlets belong to the municipality. The largest of the hamlets are Gibelflüh (elev. 499m, 2.5km east of the village), Gerlingen (elev. 476m, 1.1km south-east of the village), Wald (elev. 475m, 2.5km south-east of the village), and Wissenwegen (2.1km east). There little forested land in the municipality
