Ballon (Balana in Irish) is a village in County Carlow, Ireland. It is located on the N80 road near Carlow Town.

Ballon Hill is a beautiful place for a walk, and it is where a lot of houses are situated. It is only about 450 feet above sea level, but provides a marvellous view of the countryside, it is said, sight of nine counties. Geologically the hill is of granite covered by limestone and then a bearing of yellow sand and earth. There are a lot of different grass and field areas on the Hill and other parts of Ballon, and in most of them, animals, mostly sheep, are seen. The village has two main pubs, Joe Doyle's and Kavanagh's Lounge, and they are very popular, especially during the weekend. They are both on the Main Street, basically opposite each other, so they are considered the centre of the village in a way.

There is a Primary School on the Main Street also, Ballon National School. The Community Hall is a great place and it is where inside sports activities are held, also being the place for some presentations etc. The recycling centre is right beside that Hall, and it is great to have it.

On the other side of the Community Hall, there is a Credit Union, which is relatively new and is also very useful for the village. A playschool/kindergarten is also situated near there.

The Community of Ballon is generally friendly, and it is also involved with a lot of activities.
