Ballina Shire is a Local Government Area on the North Coast, New South Wales, Australia. The shire was formed by the amalgamation of Ballina Municipal Council and Tintenbar Shire Council in 1976. It is on the Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Highway.
In addition to Ballina, Ballina Shire includes the towns of Alstonville (2001 population: 4,773) Lennox Head (5,843) and Wollongbar (1,959) and the villages of Wardell (483), Tintenbar and Teven.
