Ballarat Football League

The Ballarat Australian Rules Football League is an Australian rules football competition formed in 1893.

There are also 9 junior clubs consisting of 63 teams from U/10 through to U/16.5 (Ballarat, Bacchus Marsh, East Ballarat, Golden Point, Lake Wendouree, Mount Clear, North Ballarat, Redan & Sebastopol).

Last year in the u/12’s we saw North Ballarat creating history winning it’s 6th u/12’s grand final defeating East Ballarat 2.9.21 to 0.2.2.

In the u/13’s grand final, Lake Wendouree won back to back premierships defeating Golden point 10.3.63 to 5.8.38.

In the U/15’s grand final North Ballarat played East Ballarat in snowy conditions. East Ballarat maintained a percentage of 1000 through the home and away season and they also went through undefeated and won against North Ballarat in the grand final 7.5.47 to 1.7.13.

The u/16’s grand final was a landslide with North Ballarat the undefeated team all year beating Ballarat 8.10.58 to 3.5.23.

The U/18’s grand final result saw Lake Wendouree play Sunbury in a contest between 1st 2nd place in an even match. The scores at half time were even but the Lakers prevailed 10.14.74 to 9.7.61 to win their 2nd straight u/18’s premiership.

Sunbury dominated the seniors grand final to win over Sunbury by 43 points. Mark Power was best on ground. The premiership was Sunbury's 6th in 10 years.

The Chief Executive Officer of the BFL is Tim Beacham. He has is been CEO for the last 2 years having played VFL for the North Ballarat Roosters. Beacham also runs the U/15’s U/16’s Ballarat development Aussie Rules football squads.

The leading goal kicker for 2004 was Tyrone Charge who kicked 103 goals for the year. Allan Henderson medal for best senior player of the year went to Justin Lewis of Sunbury who poled 33 votes with Mark Power coming a close second with 30 votes.
