Baldivis is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Rockingham. Its postcode is 6171.
Tranby College is a private school located in this suburb. Also a government school named Settlers Hill Primary was founded in 2005 which is across the road from Tranby College. The schools are situated in Settlers Hills Estate, Baldivis. The main road in Baldivis which connects to neighouring suburbs like Rockingham is Safety Bay Road. The name of Baldivis was thought up by settlers in the area who were attracted to the region by a government housing scheme to help the unemployed in the the early 1920s. The name derives from three ships which travelled to Western Australia in 1922, all within six weeks of each other. They were named BALranald, DIogenes and the JerVIS Bay. It was the maiden voyage for all three ships and they were all built in the same shipyard in the same year. Today Baldivis is a booming area for residential development, with much land being cleared for housing developments, with its closeness to the freeway and upcoming rail link to Perth making its short distance to the city even smaller as Perth's metropolitan area grows larger. Housing estates in the suburb include Settlers Hills, Baldivis Central, Rivergums and The Chase.
