Balcarres, Saskatchewan

Balcarres is a town located in south eastern Saskatchewan along the number 10 highway. Balcarres was founded by two squatters from the Indian Head district in 1905.

The town is home to several businesses including L&J's Country Foods, Balcarres Country Inn, Macs Grill, Pauline's Family Restaurant, Henry's Family Fair, Baber's Pharmacy, a Royal Bank, as well as many more. Terminal 22, a large inland grain terminal is located to the west of town along the C.N. and C.P. rail lines.

Neighbouring communities include Fort Qu'appelle to the west, to the south east Abernethy, and to the north Ituna. The File Hills indian reserves Little Black Bear, Peepeekisis, Okanese, and Starblanket are also located to the north east.

Balcarres has a hospital and senior citizens home called the Balcarres Integrated Care Center or BIC, and an elementary and high school which educates children from the communities of Balcarres, Abernethy, and the File Hills Indian Reserves.
