[edit] Plot

Scientists believe that 65,000,000 years ago, a meteorite's crash on Earth killed off the dinosaurs, but in truth, it split Earth into two parallel universes: The Earth we know (called "Another-Earth" by the Blastasaurs, the Dragonoid people, and the Evoliens) and an Earth where dinosaurs were still the superior species (Dino Earth), eventually evolving into the Dragonoid and Blastasaurs races. The two Earths were separated until Asuka, a Dragnoid from DinoEarth, arrived on Earth via a transdimensional portal. But he was followed by evil Evoliens in the spaceship Anamolicarus and the three Blastasaurs under their control. As Blastasaurs Tyrannosaurus attacked Tokyo, a call was sent out to three destined ones who possessed Dino GUTS to gain the powers to tame the three beasts. Together with their Blastasaurs partners, the three become Abarangers to protect their dimension from the Evoliens.

Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger

"Savage DinoGuts! Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger!"

When they evoke their "Dino Guts", The Abarangers tap into the power of their dinosaur partners, obtaining their strength and power as their own. Each also has an "Abare Mode" where the diamond pattern on their costumes become sharp blades. Ranru's gives her wings as well, but later in the show she stops having them. Colors: Red, Blue, Yellow, Black, White, Pink.

"Bursting with energy~AbaRed! (AbareMax!)"

  • Ryouga Hakua (伯亜 凌駕 Hakua Ryōga) / AbaRed (アバレッド AbaReddo) / AbaRed Abare Mode (AbaReddo Abare Modo) / AbareMax (AbareMakkusu): 22 years old. The optimistic team leader, a certified environmental protection investigator from the United States. Though he's overly confident, he has an extremely good nature and is friendly, warm hearted, and loving; he doesn't hate anyone. He was given guardianship of Mai after his brother and sister-in-law died and does his best to raise her. He eventually gained the power to become AbareMax. In the epilogue, he has returned to USA, and travels across the country along with Mai. His Blastasaur partners are Tyranno and Styracosaurus & DinoCarry.
    • Dino Weapons: Tyranno Rod, StyRiser
    • Special Attacks: Tyranno Rod Circle Moon

"Exploding seriously~AbareBlue!"

  • Yukito Sanjou (三条 幸人 Sanjō Yukito) / AbareBlue (アバレブルー Abareburū) / AbareBlue Abare Mode (Abareburū Abare Modo): 21 years old. A charismatic chiropractor and the anti-hero of the group, Yukito will help anyone, but charges outrageously high prices for it: in fact, he asked Asuka for U.S. $400,000,000 in order to assume his role as AbareBlue, something Asuka naively accepted and promised to save and pay, much to Yukito's surprise. He seems cold, but has a kind heart underneath, though he will never fully reveal his feelings. Yukito's anti-social personality comes from his past: when he was little, his father tried to succeed him into taking over the Sanjou Corporation for the future. Yukito was forced to study daily and was never given breaks; he wasn't even allowed to have any friends. The last straw that broke the father-son relationship was when his father paid his girlfriend's family to move away while he was in junior high. Yukito never forgave him for that and claimed that he hated him, but in reality, he harbored a self-loathing for a long time. The epilogue of the show and Dekaranger VS Abaranger seems to imply that Yukito is in a relationship with Emiri. His Blastasaur partner is Kera.
    • Dino Weapon: Tricera Bunker

"Courageous demolition~AbareYellow!"

  • Ranru Itsuki (樹 らんる Itsuki Ranru) / AbareYellow (アバレイエロー Abareierō) / AbareYellow Abare Mode (Abareierō Abare Modo): 20 years old. A technology mistress who owns a German BD-1 bicycle she nicknamed "Birdie." All she really wants is peace. She was formerly trained to be an idol, but Ranru hated it and left to work in the mechanical field. She is interested in anything mechanical, can create her own devices, and is a genius in mechanics. Ranru used to be afraid of natto until she was forced to conquer it during a battle with a Trinoid. Ranru also carries a small camera with her and usually snaps photos of the enemy during mid-battle to come up with a strategy on how to defeat it. She sometimes has an itchy back and often wants others to scratch it for her. Her Blastasaur partner is Ptera.
    • Dino Weapon: Ptera Daggers

"The invincible spirit of the Dragon-People~AbareBlack!"

  • Asuka Ono (アスカ Asuka) / AbareBlack (アバレブラック Abareburakku) / AbareBlack Abare Mode (Abareburakku Abare Modo): A warrior from DinoEarth with a sad past. He was the last of people to fight the Evolians and escaped to Earth. He brought the Dino Bracelets and gave them to the Abarangers. When he arrived, the Dino Harp was damaged, so he couldn't transform. When he got it finally restored, he lost his first battles as he couldn't use his Dino Guts correctly, until his true sense of justice awakened. Asuka has shown enormous amounts of power, as he has been able even of defeating a Giganoid and an upgraded KillerGhost on his own: however, due to his gentle personality, he often holds back during battles. In one episode, it was revealed that his surname was "Ono", although he only uses it on Another Earth. His Blastasaur partner is Brachio. Asuka is expected to appear in the 2007 team-up film "GoGo Sentai Boukenger vs. Super Sentai."
    • Dino Weapon: Dino Thruster
    • Special Attacks: Fire Inferno, Splash Inferno, Storm Inferno, Grand Inferno, Dino Thruster Circle Moon, Dino Thruster Head Crash

"The exciting masterpiece~AbareKiller!"

  • Doctor Mikoto Nakadai (仲代 壬琴 Nakadai Mikoto) / AbareKiller (アバレキラー Abarekirā) / AbareKiller Abare Mode (Abarekirā Abare Modo): A brilliant doctor who was observing the Abarangers from the time the Blastasaurs first appeared. He gained the DinoMinder and with it the Zerogo suit, which was due to self-destruct sometime soon due to it being the prototype for the other Abaranger suits. He didn't seem to care that he would die, taking the entire city with him. After spending time observing the other Rangers he decided it would be more fun to fight against them rather than with them. He fought the Abarangers and his Blastasaur partner is TopGaler, and later Stego. At one point he even assumed leadership over the villains. It was eventually revealed that the reason the Dino Minder hadn't exploded yet was because Mikoto was the Another-Earth host for Dezumozorlya. Soon after though Dezumozorlya was removed from him, and the Dino Minder was set to explode the next time he transformed. After fighting the Killer Giganoid with the Abaranger, TopGaler betrayed him, he joined the team, even if it cost him his life. When Dino Minder began to self-destruct, he and TopGaler flew away from Earth and died in the explosion. He returned for a short time to help the Abaranger and Dekaranger in Dekaranger VS Abaranger, having been revived by SaunaEelGingko's power and vanished again after the enemy was defeated. As he vanished, he told Asuka to give Kasumi/Lije his regards.
    • Dino Weapon: Wing Pentact

[edit] Allies

  • Emiri Imanaka (今中 笑里 Imanaka Emiri): Emiri is a high school student. When the Blastasaurs first came to earth, Emiri heard their call and almost became AbareYellow. Unfortunately, her body was unable to support the transformation, but Emiri contributes for the team, such as giving them their team name (Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger). She tries her hardest to become an Abaranger... she eventually does in terms of AbarePink (or "AbarePig" in the minds of some fans). One of her many mishaps are the time when she was turned into a giant by a Giganoid. She later in the series makes her own AbarePink suit (of course without powers), in order to convince her parents to let her stay at the Dino Curry House, but this suit lasted for only a single episode. Emiri also nicknames herself as "Emi-pon." The epilogue of the show and Dekaranger VS Abaranger seems to imply that she is in a relationship with Yukito.
  • Ryuunnosuke Sugishita (杉下 竜之介 Sugishita Ryūnnosuke): Sugishita runs a curry restaurant: DinoHouse, which is the Abarangers' base of operations. When the Blastasaurs' first came to earth, Sugishita heard their call and almost became AbareBlue. Unfortunately, his body was unable to support the transformation. Kind and supporting of the Abaranger, he often gives advice and helps the team whenever possible. After the fight against the Evolians, Sugishita's curry business became extremely successful and resulted in him receiving great wealth and setting up a global chain of Dino House curry restaurants, as seen in Dekaranger VS Abaranger. Emiri nicknames him as "Suke-san."
  • Mai Hakua (伯亜 舞 Hakua Mai): Ryouga's 5-year-old niece. Ryouga's brother and sister-in-law died in a car crash, leaving Mai in Ryouga's care. Mai thinks of Ryouga as a father and always cheers him on when he fights as Abared. Starting at the end of ep. 39, Kasumi chooses Mai to be the only one to see her. In ep. 41, a virus transforms human people into Barmia and Mai was infected as well. Kasumi warns the Abaranger that the Barmia around are Mai's friends. After the events of the show, Mai stayed in California with Ryouga.
  • Princess Freesia (フリージャ姫 Furīja-hime): Appears in the Abaranger Movie. When the gang are having a fun summer party at the beach, she appears in front of Ryouga and HanaBinkiVenus literally drops from the sky to capture her. There is a great myth through the Dragon People in DinoEarth that a princess guards the two evil Blastasaurus' on an arctic island. Asuka was surprised that the legend he grew up with was true. The Bakulaser had been broken in half. The other piece was excavated by humans and put in a museum. Ryouga and Freesia sneak in and steal it. He uses his Dino GUTS to merge it together. Turns out she really was Garuvuidei in disguise and used the fully formed Bakulaser to call upon the Blastasaurus'. The real Freesia was inside of the Bakulaser and wasn't able to come out. She also expressed affection for Ryouga. She commended the Abaranger for their bravery and went off with the Bakulaser.
  • Mysterious Girl / Kasumi: Kasumi was Asuka and Mahoro's unborn daughter, but was chosen to be the host for Dezumozorlya, forming Lije. Fortunately, Kasumi's soul was not gone, but when Lije turned into Lijewel, she was forced to leave and chose Mai to be the one who could see her.
  • Ninpuu Sentai Hurricanger: Meet up in the Abaranger vs. Hurricanger special to fight the Space Ninja Janiiga. First, the Abarangers found Yousuke (Hurricane Red) fighting Wendinu and Furabijou, enemies of the Hurricangers. When the Hurricangers presumably defeated them, they fell into a warp hole that transferred them into the Evorian castlehold. They had joined the Evorians. Even though the Hurricangers and Abarangers had trouble adjusting to this sudden event at first, eventually they collaborated to fight off the enemies. Yousuke (Hurricane Red) briefly made an appearance in the special Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger VS Abaranger, but it was actually Kazak in disguise, tricking the Abarangers and leading them into injury.
  • Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger: Meet up in the Dekaranger VS Abaranger special to fight an Alienizer's attempt to resurrect Dezumozoria. In the beginning, Ryouga, Yukito, and Ranru were arrested by the Dekarangers for attacking the city, but they later found out that they were after an Alienizer who was trying to revive Dezumozorlya.

[edit] Arsenal

  • Dino Braces: The Main 3 Abarangers each have their own independent transformation bracelet device. The Dino Plate are models of the Blastasaurs heads and speak for the Blastasaurs. (The mouth part to the Dino Brace moves whenever a Blastasaur usually talks to an Abaranger) The henshin call is "Blastasaur Change!" (Bakuryū Chenji).
  • Dino Commander & Dino Harp: AbareBlack's brace resembling a Brachiosaurus' head, it is gold and black with red buttons. The harp is much like a harmonica. It was damaged in the first episode and this is probably what causes a fight between Asuka and Brachio. He gets his powers back in episode 7.
  • Attack Bandit Resistance Suit: It might seem like an ordinary cloth at first glance but neither a bullet nor a weapon can penatrate the fabric. Not even radiation and heat can damage it. Even if a missile goes through, the suits absorbs ninety percent of the damage.
    • Abare Mode: Their suit markings pop out as armor plating when they are in battle. The spikes come out of their boots as well. When they do power up, their visor roars. AbareBlack's appears first.
    • Dino Guts: From genesis, the ground has been concealed with spiritual energy. This power has raised to a greater extent in the process of evolution. Creatures (such as the Blastasaurus') have reached the point of evolution that they can attach the powerful spiritual energy wave to themselves. It can be triggered when its user has great courage.
  • Aba Lasers: The Abarangers' side-arms. In gun mode, it discharges an energy bullet which can penatrate a concrete of a 1m thickness. In sword mode, it can slice a 50cm iron prop.
  • Dino Bomber / Super Dino Bomber / Superior Dino Bomber: Combination of the Tyranno Rod, Tricera Bunker and Ptera Daggers. Later on the Dino Thruster, and then the Wing Pentact. It is used to destroy normal sized monsters. Hissatsu Dino Dynamite - finishing move that brings a large blast that destroys the enemy. When combined with the Dino Thruster, the finisher is upgraded to Super Dino Dynamite, and when combined with the Dino Thruster and Wing Pentact, the finisher is known as Hissatsu Superior Dino Dynamite. Riding Dynamite is used while riding on a Road Raptor at 150km/hour. It is effective on monsters that can fly away. The blast combines the Dino Guts of the Road Raptor and the Abarangers. In Abaranger VS Hurricanger, The Abaranger, Hurricanger and Gouraiger combine their weapons forming Super Dino Victory, by connecting front section of the Super Dino Bomber to the end section of the Hurricanger & Gouraiger's Victory Gadget. The finisher attack of the Super Dino Victory is the Victory Dino Dynamite attack.
  • Shared Abilities
    • Dino Kick: Enemy is defeated by several kicks, such as roundhouse and jumping kick. It has the destructive power of 6 ton.
    • Dino Punch: An overly powerful straight punch that overwhelms a weakened enemy. It has the destructive power of 6 ton.
    • Dino Jump: A powerful kick and jump are released using the acceleration of a high jump. They can jump up 20 meters.
    • Dino Dash: At full speed like the Bakuryuu, the enemy can be chased. The speed is 150 km/hour.
    • Dino Fly: Whirls high and rises, letting out a fast jump attack. Speed per hour 300 km/hour.
    • Flying Dash: Flies through the sky, repels the enemy with a direct attack
  • Dino Minder: AbareKiller's transformation device which TopGaler or Stego would use to talk to him. His henshin call is the same as the others.
  • Zerogo Suit: Prototype of the Attack Bandit Resistance Suits.
    • Abare Mode
    • Dino Guts
  • Baku Laser: Appears only in Abaranger Deluxe. Referred to as the 'Sword of the Seal' in Dino Earth legends. Princess Freesia had half of the Baku Laser in her possession and needed to find the other piece. The other piece was excavated by humans and put in a museum. Ryouga and Freesia sneaked in and steal it. He uses his Dino Guts to merge it together. However, "Princess Freesia" was revealed to be Garuvuidei, who used the Baku Laser to form BakurenOh and piloted it until it was destroyed. The Bakulaser returned to Ryouga's possession and it gained the Abaranger emblem. The real Freesia was embedded in the weapon because she used her soul to seal the Blastasaurs.

[edit] Vehicles

  • Road Raptors: The Road Raptors are Velociraptor-like creatures, but are not as intelligent as the Blastasaurs but are very much like horses. The Abarangers' use them as their main transportation.
    • Black Road Raptor: AbareBlack's Road Raptor.
    • Red Road Raptor: Abared's Road Raptor.
    • Blue Road Raptor: AbareBlue's Road Raptor.
    • Yellow Road Raptor: AbareYellow's Road Raptor.

[edit] Blastasaurs

All 13 of the Blastasaurs

The Blastasaurs (爆竜 Bakuryū) are giant Beasts from DinoEarth that evolved from the dinosaurs, they had a mutual friendship with the Ryuujin (Dragon people of Dino Earth) until the Evorians attacked. While most of the Blastasaurs eggs were sent to Earth, Tyranno, Kera and Ptera fell under the Evolien's control. Sent to Earth, the three went on a path of destruction until their partners freed them.

When combining, the basic Blastasaur formations use the command "Blastasaur Combination" (爆竜合体 Bakuryū Gattai). When an additional Blastasaur is added to a formation, the command "Blastasaur Combine" (爆竜コンバイン Bakuryū Konbain) is used.

  • Blastasaur Brachiosaurus (Bakuryū Burakiozaurusu): The biggest Blastasaur, nicknamed "Brachio", he is wise and calm and hates fighting. Brachio was the only one of the first that was immune to the Evoliens' control due to being already partnered to Asuka. He resides at the bottom of Tokyo Bay and holds the other Blastasaurs inside his body until they are needed. He recites rousing poetic speeches (actually puns on select Toei hero songs) when heading into battle. There's some indication that he may be the eldest and wisest of the Blastasaurs.
  • Great AbarenOh (オオアバレンオー (大暴連王) Ō Abaren'ō, Great Riot Union King): Created when Abaren'oh combines with Stego, TopGaler, and RhamphoGolds & SpinoGold. The formation command was "Strongest Blastasaur Combination" (爆竜最強合体 Bakuryū Saikyō Gattai). It was only used once to destroy the Killer Giganoid. Its finisher is the Great Abare Full Throttle.
    • Killer AbarenOh (キラー暴連王 キラーアバレンオー Kirā Abaren'ō, Killer Rion Union King): Created when Abaren'oh combines with TopGaler and Stego in order to defeat Bakuren'oh. The combination command is "Great Blastasaur Combination!" (爆竜大合体 Bakuryū Dai Gattai). It attacks by sliding down Brachio's tail, back, and neck, and then uses Kera, Tyranno, Paki, Dime, Ankylo, and Para at an extremely fast rate before using the Blastasaur Dengeki Drill Spin attack.
      • AbarenOh (アバレンオー (暴連王) Abaren'ō, Riot Union King): When Tyranno, Kera and Ptera combine, they form AbarenOh - a humanoid fighting machine. AbarenOh's finisher is the Blastasaur Dengeki Drill Spin attack. Other attacks are the Ptera Cutter, Blastasaur Fire Burst and Salmon Hunter.
        • Abaren Prince (暴連王子 アバレンオージ Abaren'ōji, Riot Union Prince): Abaren Prince is a combination without Ptera. This was created by Ryouga in episode 14, but it is not used again afterwards.
          • Blastasaur Tyrannosaurus (Bakuryū Tiranozaurusu): Nicknamed "Tyranno", the strongest of the three Blastasaur. His jaws, strength and sharp claws make him a tough opponent, but his tail is his greatest weapon, able to drill through anything. Although wise, he has a short fuse when it comes to Ryouga. He shows sympathy towards Mai since he understands the feelings of a father because lost his only child on Dino Earth to the Evolien, so he constantly pushes Ryouga up to be a good father figure for Mai. In fact, in the finale, Tyranno jokingly said to Ryouga that if he and Mai are not happy, he'd come back and get him. Forms the majority of Abaren'oh: the head, legs, body, and left arm, and the blade of the Double-Tail Sword.
          • Blastasaur Triceratops (Bakuryū Torikeratopusu): Nicknamed "Kera", the armored one of the three Blastasaur, Kera can take a great deal of punishment from an opponent; he seems strong enough to topple every building in downtown Japan. Kera seems a bit androgynous, as his voice sounds like a Japanese pre-teen. In Episode 36, he wished to become human and suddenly became a little boy. He took on the name "Kerato" and did not reveal his true identity to Yukito in fear of being punished. He fell in love with a woman, but sacrificed his human life to turn back into his normal form in order to protect Yukito. In the finale, Kera said to thank Yukito for everything. Forms Abaren'oh's right arm and shield and the handle of the Double-Tail Sword.
        • Blastasaur Pteranodon (Bakuryū Puteranodon): Nicknamed "Ptera", the fastest of the three Blastasaurs, she can reach speeds of Mach 1.2 and higher, with her wings, beak, and shockwaves effective on any enemy. A kind and sweet Blastasaur. In the finale, Ptera said to Ranru to find a nice boyfriend. Forms Abaren'oh's helmet and "gown", the last can be removed for the Ptera Cutter, a bladed boomerang used by Abaren'oh.
      • KillerOh (キラー王 キラーオー Kirāō, Killer King): When TopGaler and Stego combine, they form KillerOh. It has the Death Stinger finisher. Other attacks are the Fillet Striker and Blastasaur Hissatsu Death Combustion.
        • Blastasaur TopGaler (Bakuryū Topugeira): A Tupuxuara who was sealed for destroying a major DinoEarth city. He was found and released by AbareKiller, whom he partnered with. He often employs his great speed in battle, which has been clocked at an astounding Mach 20. He calls Mikoto "human", as a sign of the no-affection relationship between both. His personality is a hardcore lone wolf like his master. He died along with AbareKiller near the finale, but returned in Dekaranger vs. Abaranger and combined with AbarenOh to become AbarenOh Galer. Form's Killeroh's limbs and weapon or a pair of wings for AbarenOh Galer, Killer AbarenOh, or Great AbarenOh.
        • Blastasaur Stegoslidon (Bakuryū Sutegosuraidon): A Stegosaurus nicknamed "Stego", who could combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Slidon, serving as a surfboard (he also serves as such for Killer and Great AbarenOhs). He was taken by AbareKiller temporarily via mind control, but after awaking with his own willpower (separating Killeroh in the process), he left only to return to AbareKiller's side by his own will. Stego seemed to be the only one to really care about Mikoto's life, aside from Lije/Lijewel. His personality is almost similar to Ptera, but can be a dunce like Dime from time to time. In the finale, Stego asked Yatsudenwani why he was on Earth.
      • MaxRyuuOh (マックスリューオー (マックス竜王) Makkusuryūō, Max Dragon King): When the Max Monarch combines with PachyceroKnuckles, DimeSawdon, ParasauroloCutter and Ankyloveilus with the command of "Super Blastasaur Combination" (爆竜超合体 Bakuryū Chō Gattai), they form MaxRyuuOh. One of the most powerful combinations of the Blastasaurs. Their major attack involves the left arm causes an enormous tornado and the bazooka of the right arm discharges the energy shell.
        • Blastasaur Styracosaurus (Bakuryū Sutirakosaurusu) & DinoCarry / MaxOhJa (マックスオージャ Makkusu Ōja, Max Monarch): The Dino GUTS of AbareMax awoke the Styracosaurus and the DinoCarry, which holds the RhamphoGold axes & SpinoGold helmet. Styracosaurus can form a humanoid fighting robot - MaxOhJa. Styracosaurus is also the only good Blastasaur not to speak, but instead lets out dinosaur roars. One of its attacks is Max Crusher, while its finisher is the Max Shoulder Attack. Stryacosaurus's head becomes the chest of MaxOhJa or MaxRyuuOh, the tail forms either MaxOhJa's head or MaxRyuuOh's back. The rest of Styracosaurus forms the body and upper legs in both combinations with the DinoCarry as the lower legs (the wheels serve as MaxOhJa's arms), the spike on the right wheel becomes the right "glove", and the left spike become the left "glove". The RhamphoGold's become axes for MaxOhJa or a lance for MaxRyuuOh. SpinoGold becomes a helmet for MaxRyuuOh or Great AbarenOh.
        • Blastasaur Pachycero Knuckles (Bakuryū Bakikero Nagurusu): A Pachycephalosaurus nicknamed "Paki" who can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Knuckles, with a boxing arm. He also forms MaxRyuuOh's right arm. His personality is quite kiddish. In the finale, Paki said to Mai that he's happy that she's so close with her dad (Ryouga), and to be good to him.
        • Blastasaur Dime-Saw-Don (Bakuryū Dimenokodon): A laidback Dimetrodon nicknamed "Dime", found in the Kansai district. It can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Sawdon, with a buzzsaw arm. He also becomes the interior of MaxRyuuOh's right leg. He tends to be dopey now and then. He loves the music of Asuka's Dino Harp. In the finale, Dime said to Sugishita to take care and to always be healthy.
        • Blastasaur Parasauro-cutter (Bakuryū Parasarokkiru): A Parasaurolophus with a Spanish accent who can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Cutter, with a scissors arm. He can also form the interior of MaxRyuuOh's left leg. He was living in the Caribbean, where he end up learning to speak Spanish. In addition, he's an avid piano player. Some fans see him as the most "annoying" of the Blastasaurus'. In the finale, he said to Emiri to not lose her cheerfulness.
        • Blastasaur Ankylo-Veil-Us (Bakuryū Ankirobeirusu): A petulant Ankylosaurus who can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh Veilus, forming a shield and blade arm. She also forms Maxryuuoh's left arm. She often admits her lack of trust in the Abarangers, though still comes out to help when needed. It's interesting to note, that when she first contacted the Abarangers, she started them on a wild goose chase saying she was in the city, beach and farm. She was only found by accident and preferred to live a quiet life, until Asuka convinced her otherwise. In the finale, Ankylo noted that Yatsudenwani was an interesting fellow.
  • Blastasaur Fire-Saw-Don (Bakuryū Faiyānokodon): A CD-Exclusive Dimetrodon that hatched at Hawaii. It can combine with AbarenOh to form AbarenOh SawDonFire, forming a buzzsaw arm.

[edit] Invasion's Garden Evolien

The Invasion's Garden Evolien (侵略の園エヴォリアン Shinryaku no Sono Evorian) are the Wicked Life Clan (Jameizoku), they came from Dino Earth. They dwelled within a castle-like structure, the Invasion's Garden Palace, before Dezumzorlya turned it into a giant cyclops-like host called DezumoGevirus to battle the Blastasaurs with while transferring itself into Geildon. The fortress was destroyed when AbarenOh and MaxOhJa seemingly sacrificed themselves (with Ryouga and Yukito inside both respective cockpits), but survived by burrowing underground.

  • Wicked Life God Dezumozorlya (Jameishin Dezumozorruia): The Evolien god, a parasitic entity that was held in the meteorite that crashed to Earth. When Earth was split, Dezumozorlya's essence was divided between the two earths, and took one being of each world as its host and tranmigrated itself through the host's descendants. It is said that because of his very presence that war and famine broke out and some of his hosts have wreaked havoc throughout the course of human history. In the time of Abaranger, Mikoto held the essence of the inactive Earth-counterpart, and the Dezumozorlya of DinoEarth found a host in Rije. When he was purged from Lijewel, Dezumozorlya sought stronger inhuman hosts (including Mikela and Voffa) until he chose Geildon as his ideal vessel. As Dezumogevarus, Dezumozorlya was soon destroyed by AbareYellow and AbareBlack.
  • Lije (リジェ Rije) (1-36) / Lijewel (リジュエル Rijueru) (37-47) / DezumoLijewel (47): She is Dezumozorlya's child-like metaron, responsible for linking the two worlds. She was originally the daughter of Asuka & Mahoro until the Dino-Earth Dezumozorlya entered Mahoro's body & made the preborn Kasumi its' host. She was force-grown into an adult, Lijewel, to tempt Mikoto to join her and later mutated into DezumoLijewel. Through the combined power of all five Abaranger, Kasumi 'overpowered' Dezumozorlya and Lijewel was restored to an infant once Dezumozorlya was removed from her.
  • Dark Sect (San Kanbu) (1-48): The three servants of Lije/Lijewel.
    • Mahoro (32-50) / Jeanne (ジュアンッヌ Juannnu) (1-32): She was originally a Dragonoid and was Asuka's love, but she was parasitized by the Evoliens. Because of her previous life, Jeanne had a fixation on killing Asuka. She eventually returned to normal, though Mahoro assumed her Evolien identity to help the Abarangers escape from the enemy camp until Dezumozorlya learned of her treachery. In Abaranger Deluxe, Jeanne transformed into Soldier Armor Geildon to get the Bakulaser from Abared. In Dekaranger vs. Abaranger, she returned during the end credits, now a mother with a daughter named Mikoto; Asuka was the father.
    • DezumoVoorla (47-48): The 3rd host of Dezumozorlya created when Mikela and Voffa were merged into one being, though both were proud to hold Dezumozorlya's essence in them. DezumoVoorla was used to asborb the Earth-Dezumozorlya from AbareKiller's body and was killed by Killeroh.
      • Creation Messenger Mikela (Migera) (1-47): The one who creates the Trinoids. He is an amoeba that grew and evolved to take on a more humanoid shape. He is a painter and hates to make a creation when uninspired by his muse. He despises humans, their art and their culture. Long ago, when he created SaunaEelGinko, he sealed it away in a red orb because of its' immense powers. He and his partner, Voffa ended up being merged as one host for Dezumozorlya at the end of the series to form DezumoVoorla.
      • Unlimited Messenger Voffa (1-47): He enlarges the Trinoids and creates the giant Giganoids from musical compositions using his harp. He is an amoeba that grew and evolved to take on a more humanoid shape. He likes to refer himself as Fate itself and doesn't like his music to be heard when his work isn't ready. In Episode 2 he was shown growing and evolving within the meteor that crashed into the earth that caused it to split into "Another Earth" and "Dino Earth". He and his partner, Mikela ended up being merged as one host for Dezumozorlya at the end of the series to form DezumoVoorla.
  • The Darkness Messenger Soldier Armor Geildon (1-2, 12-34) / Wicked Life Soldier Armor Dezumogevalus (Dezumogevarusu) (49-50): The first of the Evoliens to attack Earth, but was killed by Jeanne after failing in his mission. It would later turn out that he was wearing a cursed suit of armor that bonded with Mahoro's older brother, Mizuho. Geildon was also worn by Asuka two times, who lost himself due to the cursed armor's power. By the finale, Geildon was transformed into Wicked Life Soldier Armor Dezumogevalus, the final host of Dezumozorlya, which was soon destroyed by AbareYellow and AbareBlack.
  • Trinoid #12: Yatsudenwani Crocodile + Japanese Fatsia + telephone (18, 21-Dekaranger vs. Abaranger): This Trinoid changed to the side of good and has a crush on Ranru. He was captured by AbareKiller and forced to be his servant for most of the series and eventually came to see him as a friend. In the end, he chose to stay behind rather than returning to Dino Earth. It's revealed that he now runs the Dinosaur restaurant with Ryuunosuke, which flourished. In Dekaranger vs. Abaranger, it's revealed that he held an artifact capable of resurrecting Dezumozorlya. In addition, he glomped Ban/DekaRed mistaking him for Ranru and easedropped on Ranru, Emiri, Umeko, and Jasmine while they were bathing resulting in a severe beating.
  • Garuvuidei (Movie): An Evolien general who captured Princess Freesia and sought to revive Bakuren'oh by finding his components. Killed by Abared with the Bakulaser.
  • Bakuren'oh (爆連王 バクレンオー Bakuren'ō, Blast Union King) (Movie, 48): CarnoRyutus & ChasmoSealdon combine to form Bakuren'oh, the evil, icy counterpart of Abaren'oh. It could use its sword to slice off Abaren'oh's drill-arm and use it as its own before the other Blastasaurs forced it to give it back. In the movie, it was defeated by Killer Abaren'oh, but it returned to help DezumoVoorla to fight the Abarangers. Soon it was destroyed for good by Abaren'oh and MaxOuja.
    • Blastasaur CarnoRyutus (Bakuryū Karnoryūtusu): A Carnotaurus, an evil Blastasaur with the same attacks as Tyranno as well as a freezing breath attack. Forms the majority of Bakuren'oh: the head, body, left arm, and legs, and the blade of the Double Tail Sword.
    • Blastasaur ChasmoSealdon (Bakuryū Kasmosearudon): A Chasmosaurus, an evil Blastasaur with the same attacks as Kera as well as a freezing breath attack. Forms Bakuren'oh's right arm and shield and the handle of the Double Tail Sword.
  • Wicked Life Squadron Evoranger (Jamei Sentai Evoranjaa) (30): These are really revived Trinoids used to test AbareKiller in Abare Mode's powers.
    • Sharkuru Red: Was the revived Trinoid #10.
    • Ayamega Blue: Was the revived Trinoid #11.
    • Tensai Yellow: Was the revived Trinoid #3.
  • Barmia Soldiers (Baamia-hei): The Evolien foot soldiers and are evolved humanoid amoebas. At one time the Evoliens attempted to turn humans into Barmias.
    • Gelru: Black Barmias.
    • Zolru: White Barmias.

[edit] Evil Lifeforms

Evil Lifeforms (ヂャメタイ Jametai?) Created as the result of using a Life Berry from the Tree of Life.

[edit] Trinoids

The Trinoids (トリノイド Torinoido?) are evil Lifeforms, each is a fusion of animal, mineral and vegetable. They are designed and painted to life by Mikela via a life berry (it acts a heart) and when destroyed the berry lifts up into the air and they are resurrected as a giant.

  • Trinoid #0, Saunaginnan (Dekaranger vs. Abaranger): Sauna + Unagi(eel) + Ginnan(ginkgo). This Trinoid was created long before the others that appeared in the Abaranger series. Mikela sealed him away in a red orb because of his great power. Kazakku resurrected him in order to bring back Dezumozorlya. He has the ability to resurrect the dead, but only when he is powered up. SaunaEelGingko was only able to revive a couple of Alienizers and AbareKiller (by accident). Killed by the teamwork of Abarenoh Galer & Super Dekaranger Robo.
  • Trinoid #1: Dragondoran (46): Dragon + Gondola + Ran(Orchid), this Trinoid had been hiding under the Earth since the Abarangers first appeared. He was the last of the Trinoids to appear before the series finale. Killed by the combined powers of Abaren'oh, Max Monarch & Killeroh.

  • Trinoid #6: Zakurobacuum (6): Zakuro(pomegranate fruit) + Roba(Donkey) + Vacuum. He was originally created to steal the power from the Abarangers, but then found that it could also steal youth from beautiful women, turning them into old ladies. One of his victims was a famous popstar who was friends with Ranru. Killed by Abaren'oh. When it consumed too much youth it got a stomach ache so Mikela had it eat a special fruit to help digestion and so it could expel its feces as a weapon.
  • Trinoid #7: Jishakunagengorou (7, 13): Jishaku(magnet) + Shakunage(Rhododendron) + Gengorou(diving beetle). It placed tattoos of N (representing North) and S (representing South) on people and objects to send them flying with magnetic power. Killed by Abaren'oh.

[edit] Giganoids

The Giganoids (ギガノイド Giganoido?) are Giant Lifeforms, monsters that are giant from the beginning. They are "composed" by Voffa.

  • Giganoid #1: Fate (5): Fate-based. This creature used giant dice as weapons and could teleport objects such as buildings to other places. Killed by Abaren'oh.
  • Giganoid #2: Hero (8): Hero-based clone of Geildon. Disguised as a popular children's television character (possibly inspired by Ultraman) so that Jeanne could steal the children's dreams when they despaired when they saw their hero was a phony. Killed by AbareBlack with the DinoThruster.
  • Giganoid #3: Clock (12-13): Clock-based. Killed by Abaren'oh Sawdon.
  • Giganoid #4: Resurrection (14): Revival-based, a giant skeletal Theropod-like Dinosaur. Killed by Abaren'oh.

  • Giganoid #11: Immortal (42-43): A giant-like warrior designed after Killeroh's data. Mikela and Voffa tricked Mikoto into thinking they made a "Killer Giganoid" for him to control in place of his Blastasaurs deserting him. But in reality, once he was inserted into the Giganoid, Immortal's purpose was to draw out the Dezumoryla inside him. From there, Giganoid-11 would fused into the Tree of Life, to scatter the Evoliens' world wide. To ensure that, it brought back Giganoids #9 and #10. Killed by Great Abaren'oh.

[edit] Others

  • Invasion's Garden Palace (1-48) / Invasion's Garden Ultimate Form DezumoGevirus (49-50): The Evoliens' castle turned into a cyclops-like host by Dezumozorlya. Was destroyed by all the Blastasaurs in finale when they sacrificed themselves.
  • Anamolicarus (1-2): The Evolien space ship. Destroyed by Abarenoh.
    • Anamolicarus II (31-32): A second Anamolicarus arrived with the Barugigenia.
  • Unstoppable Connection Living Ship Barugigenia (31-32): This came out Anamolicarus II, the Evolien Mothership in episodes 1 & 2. The Barugigenia is piloted by Jeanne starting in episode 31. It can separate its connected parts. It can fly like a jet aircraft and drive like a streetcar on the ground. The name could mean "Burgus Shale Rocks" where the fossils of nomalocaris were found. It can't even be stopped by Brachio, leaving Abaren'oh with a tough fight. It was soon destroyed by Styracosaurus & DinoCarry.
  • Hexanoid #1, HanaBikiNikiBinasu (Movie): Bee (Bi) + Bikini + Venus (Binasu) + Fireworks (Hanabi) + Eggplant + Pimple. An assassin, she was sent to kill Princess Freesia, froze Emiri until the end of the film's ending credits. Killed by AbareBlue.
  • KillerGhost (Kirāghotsu) (30-31): A monster-clone created by Mikoto, modeled after AbareKiller in AbareMode. KillerGhost was so powerful it managed to capture 5 of the Blastasaurus. It took Abared to become AbareMax to kill it.
    • Lijewloid Two-Worlds' KillerGhost (Kirāghotsu) (40): KillerGhost was revived by Lijewel, who upgraded him with free-will and more power than before as Lijewloid Two-Worlds' KillerGhost. AbareBlack was able to destroy the upgrade jewel, and Abaren'oh with a DinoGUTS power-boost was able to kill him forever.

[edit] Names/Puns

[edit] Abarangers

  • The main 3 Abarangers' family names are all puns on three periods of the Mesozoanic era:
    • Hakua Ryouga: Hakua-Ki (Cretaceous)
    • Sanjou Yukito: Sanjou-Ki (Triassic)
    • Itsuki Ranru: Jura-Ki (Jurassic)
  • Yukito's name (幸人) means "happy person."
  • Asuka's name is a pun of the "Asuka" era in Japanese history.
  • Mikoto's name is Japanese for "lord" or "prince".

[edit] Blastasaurs

  • The Japanese term, Bakuryuu, can be translated literally as "Explosive Dragon", using a part of the kanji used for "Kyoryu" (fright dragon), the term used for "Dinosaur".
  • Under translation, "Abaren'oh", "Killeroh", "Maxryuuoh", "OoAbaren'oh" means "Riot Union King", "Killer King", "Max Dragon King", "Great Riot Union King" respectively.

[edit] Evoliens

  • Evolien is a word combination of 'EVOlution' and 'aLIEN'.
  • Each Trinoid's name is a combination of the Romanji spellings of it's Japanese "Components"

[edit] Trivia

  • All the episode titles featured the word "Abare". (see below)
  • Tsuyoshi Hayashi (Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger's Houji) auditioned to play Nakadai/AbareKiller.
    • In a strange twist of fate, Yasuhiko Imai, the suit actor for AbareKiller, was also the suit actor for DekaBlue, Houji's designation on the team.
  • Asuka/AbareBlack is the first regular Sentai warrior who doesn't take part in the giant battles since Goggle Five's Goggle Black and Goggle Pink; he only fought in a few battles (merging with Stego or borrowing Styraco as Brachio wasn't able of holding a fight). He has to his credit, however, the instance of having defeated single-handedly a giant monster (Giganoid #2).
  • The actor who played the human form of Volcano Org from Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger plays a recurring customer at Ryuunosuke's restaurant.
  • Episode 10 was watched by Abaranger's American counterparts in an episode of Power Rangers: Dino Thunder, titled Lost and Found in Translation. The plot of the original episode was changed almost entirely during the dub to make it more comical (i.e. when Lije zaps Jeanne she chastizes her for stealing her hairspray, one character has a thick Irish accent, etc.). The episode was intended to sound as if the Japanese show was based off the American one, rather than the other way around. The characters' name changed in the dub. Not all of the characters' names were mentioned.
    • Asuka — Mikey
    • Yukito Sanjou — Kenny Yukito
    • "Bucky" Barns — Whacker Wilson
    • Yokota — Mr. O'Shaugnessy
    • Jeanne — Missy
    • Torinoid #9 Bank Mushroom — Ka-Ching

[edit] Theme Songs

  • Opening - "Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger" (Lyricist = Yumi Yoshimoto; Composer = Takafumi Iwasaki; Arranger = Seiichi Kyouda; Singer = Masaaki Endou)
  • Ending - "We are the One ~Bokura wa Hitotsu~" (Lyricist = Yumi Yoshimoto; Composer = Yasuo Kosugi; Arranger = Seiichi Kyouda; Chorus = Mori no Ki Jidou Gasshoudan; Singer = Akira Kushida)

[edit] Notes

1 "Bakuryuu (爆竜 Bakuryū?)" when literally translated means "Blast Dragon." This is actually a portmanteau of the Japanese words "baku (?)" which means "blast" and "kyouryuu (恐竜 kyōryū?)" which means "dinosaur" (the main theme of the series). In English, this roughly translates into "Blastasaur," a portmanteau of "blast" and "dinosaur."
2 The name "Abaranger" is a portmanteau of Abare (in the show, an acronym that stands for Attack Bandit Resistance; in Japanese, the term "abare" also means "riot", "rage", or "outburst" among other translations) and Ranger, so the romanization can be either Abaranger or Abarenger.
