Bailie Nicol Jarvie
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bailie Nicol Jarvie (colloquially BNJ) is a brand of whisky distilled and sold by Glenmorangie plc. It is named after a character in Walter Scott's novel Rob Roy.
Bailie Nicol Jarvie or BNJ as it's commonly known, has one of the highest malt contents of any blended whisky and contains only 'first class' ranked malts in the blend. Smooth, subtle and full of character, it has a delicate balance of sweet Speyside, aromatic Highland and peaty Islay malt whiskies blended with only the finest grain whisky.
In the novel Rob Roy, Bailie Nicol Jarvie was a Glaswegian magistrate who distinguished himself in one famous incident in the book by tackling a fierce Highlander with a red-hot poker!
'BNJ' won an award at the International Spirits Challenge 2001 and has been described by whisky writer, Jim Murray, as "one of the finest blended whiskies on the market".
