Talk:Baggins family
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Dropped info from Balbo Baggins:
In earlier versions of The Lord of the Rings, Balbo is named Inigo and his wife is Pervinca Boffin and not Berylla. Only in the published book does he become Balbo. Also in the earlier versions he has three sons: Mungo, Longo (later Ponto), and Tango (later Largo) and he has no daughters. Lily was added in the second draft first as a son named Togo (Togo is later used for Lily's husband, Togo Goodbody), but changed sex into a daughter eventually; and Pansy appeared in the third draft.
[edit] From Vfd/Sackville-Baggins
Sackville-Baggins: do we really need an article on a Hobbit family with only three members? I am the first to advocate articles on Baggins, Took etc. but this one is a bit too far. Delete. User:Anárion 12:20, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep. A worthwhile article can be put together out of this page, Lotho Sackville-Baggins, and Lobelia Sackville-Baggins; that, or Sackville-Baggins could be merged with Baggins. —No-One Jones 12:30, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Keep - If we're going to have articles on some of the Hobbit families, we may as well have all of them. TPK 12:59, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- I have merged it into Baggins and made Sackville-Baggins a redirect to Baggins#Sackville-Baggins family. Dpbsmith (talk) 13:05, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)

- Good one. Should have thought of this. User:Anárion 13:17, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- Excellent merge&redirect- they're a subset of the same family (fairly small) family, and combining them makes sense. -FZ 13:51, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Does Bag-End constitute a smial
I have my doubts. Rich Farmbrough 23:12, 24 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Bag End is a smial. I smial doesn't have to be big, it's just another word for a hole. Signed-an anonymous Hobbit
