- Robert BAGE (1728-1801)- Novelist & papermaker. He wrote six novels, the last of which Hermsprong, or man as he is not (1796), is probably his best work. The novels are: Mount Henneth (1782, Barham Downs (1784), The fair Syrian (1787), James Wallace (1788), Man as he is (1792), Hermsprong, or man as he is not (1796)
- Charles Bage (1751-1822) - Designer of the first ever iron framed building. Charles was also a surveyor & winemerchant.
- Capt. Edward Frederick Robert Bage (1888-1915) - Polar explorer. He took part in Douglas Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-1914) as astronomer, assistant magnetician and recorder of tides. He was awarded the King's Polar Medal in 1915. He was killed while marking out a trench line near Lone Pine, 7 May 1915, when he and his companions came under fire from five Turkish machine guns.
