[edit] British Aerospace Australia
British Aerospace Australia was established (under a different name) in 1953.
BAe Australia doubled in size in April 1996 with the purchase of AWA Defence Industries (AWADI).[2] AWADI was formed in October 1988 by the merger of the defence electronics business of AWA Ltd, Thorn EMI Electronics Australia and Fairey Australasia.[3]
In November 1997 Siemens announced it would sell its Siemens Plessey defence electronics group to British Aerospace and DASA. The sale, completed in April 1998, saw Siemens' Australian business Siemens Plessey Electronic Systems Pty Ltd in Australia (SPESA) merged into BAe Australia.[4]
