Bad Taste Records

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bad Taste Records is a punk rock record label based in Lund, Sweden, not to be confused with the record label Bad Taste in Iceland.

The record label was one of the first labels to establish in the Swedish punk/hardcore scene in the early 90:s, together with Burning Heart Records (other less known labels are; Desperate Fight Rercords, Adhesive Records, No Looking Back Records/Carcrash Records). The first release was put out in 1994, the EP "Skate to Hell" with the band Satanic Surfers. For a couple of years they worked together with the record shop "Love your Records". Today the label has somewhat drifted from their original punk/hardcore orientation towards a more rock/emo orientation. The name originated from the movie "Bad Taste" by Peter Jackson.

There was also a Bad Taste Records in Seattle that released one single in 1975. Side A was Oom Cocka Mau Mau by Ace Oom and the Eons (a cover of an earlier release by The Dinks on Sully Records) and Side B was Paralyzed!, by the Lamar Harrington Band. Side A of this record was made to be played in stereo at 45 RPM, and Side B was in mono at 33 and 1/3 RPM. Only 1000 were pressed, and very few copies of this rare recording are known to exist today.
