Bad Hair Day (Sailor Moon)

Bad Hair Day is the 32nd episode of the English dub of the anime series Sailor Moon.

All the girls (with the exception of Serena, voiced by Terri Hawkes) are at the Temple discussing the latest occurrences. Raye (Katie Griffin) seems to be depressed and in her own thoughts as the others express their concerns about Serena, who is also very depressed about losing Tuxedo Mask (Toby Proctor). Mina (Stephanie Morgenstern) has an idea and visits Serena at home. She decides that the best way to cheer her up is by taking her to a new hair salon that has just opened in Tokyo. Little do they know that it is simply an operation run by the Negaverse and the new general, Malachite (Dennis Akayama) in order to find the Moon Princess and steal the silver crystal from her. When they get to the salon, Serena is taken to wash her hair, while Mina is taken to a special treatment blow dryer. Her hair gets analyzed and compared to a lock of Sailor Moon's hair, and is matched, so the hairdresser mistakes her for Sailor Moon. As Mina is being brutally questioned, Serena transforms and confronts them. The hairdresser then turns into a monster and a fight ensues. But suddenly, a black rose appears. Tuxedo Mask has come but he is not about to help them out. Instead, he asks Serena for the silver crystal and is prepared to use force if needed. Serena then realises that Tuxedo Mask has been brainwashed. Eventually, the other Scouts show up and they turn the monster back into a group of human hairdressers. Sailor Moon can’t believe her eyes as Tuxedo Mask warns them that next time, he will do whatever it takes to steal the silver crystal.

• Although Mina/Sailor Venus was introduced three episodes ago, this is the first time she is actually shown transforming.
