Bachelor Police

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bachelor Police (Policias Bachilleres) is an auxiliary or supportive policemen organisation in the Colombian National Police basically formed by adolescents over 18 years old or/and those whom have completed their high school degree and need to define their obligatory military service.[1]

According to the Constitutional Law 48 of March 3, 1993, which rules the recreuitment service and mobilization in the military forces in Colombia, those recruit prospects will have the option of defining their obligatory military service after graduating from high school and/or achieving legal age in the Colombian National Police for 12 months instead of the serving in the Colombian Armed Forces. The "Bachelor Policemen" don't carry fire arms and wear the basic National Police uniform without insignias, usually supporting the regular police force in surveillance and transit tasks with a whistle, Two-way radios bicycles and batons.[2]
