[edit] History

After losing their AHL team in 1997, the Binghamton and Broome County region of New York were searching for a new team to replace the Binghamton Rangers. The United Hockey League jumped at the opportunity, and the B.C. Icemen started the next season. Attendance was typically low, as Binghamton fans were accustomed to a much higher quality of hockey. It was rare that there were a lot of people at the games at all. After AHL hockey returned to Binghamton in 2002, the Icemen were left without a home, and eventually went defunct. Former members of the team include Chris Grenville, Dieter Kochan and Brad Jones.

The team logo was designed by Johnny Hart, artist of the comic strip "B.C." and a Binghamton native. The B.C. stands for "Broome County".

The market was previously served by: Binghamton Rangers of the AHL (1990-1997)
The franchise was replaced by: Binghamton Senators of the AHL (2002-present)
