Bülent Ortaçgil (born 1950) is a Turkish composer and singer.
Born in Ankara, Turkey at 1950. He moved to Istanbul, Turkey after started elementery school which was ended at Sultanahmet elementery School at Istanbul. Mid & High scholl education was done at Bold textKadikoy Maarif College. Finally graduated from University of Istanbul, Faculty of Chemistry.
Started playing Guitar at Kadikoy Maarif College. Another “pop”ular composer and singer Mazhar Alanson ( from the band M.F.Ö. ) was at the same school. ( Nobody know if they were friends.) Made up some amateur bands, one of them was Damlalar ( Drops ). Musical profile was based on The Beatler, Cat Stevens, Donovan and Dylan. First published the long play called “Anlamsiz” ( Meaningless ) before being graduated from faculty.
At 1974, published his first album, “Benimle Oynar misin ?” which is called to be a classic, The records and mastering was done with the support of Onno Tunc and Ergun Pekakcan
Had a break as ten years to music after marriage. This time was “spended” as a chemical eng ineer at companies like Pfizer and Netas Telecom. During 1985 played with Fikret Kizikok at Cekirdek Muzikevi, which gathered their music and yielded a non-published copy album “Biz Sarkilarimizi …” ( ?? ).
The album “Pencere Onu Çiçeği” ( Windowsill Flower ) published at 1986. The song Pencere Onu Cicegi is another classic, criticizes an intellectual, isolated life against a life at outside of the window
At 1991, the album came called “Oyuna Devam” (attendance to the game). The album was gathering his band friends, Erkan Ogur , Cem Aksel , Gurol Agirbas , that they have been playing together for a 10 years.
At year 2000, Reletively popular Turkish singers recorded a Tribute Album called “Sarkilar bir Oyundur”. ( Songs is a Game )
He frequently uses the thema "game" at his songs.
