Bécherel is a commune of the Ille-et-Vilaine département, in northwestern France.
It is a tiny charming village, called the city of the books because there are 15 bookstores for around 660 inhabitants. There also you can enjoy many happy happenings and performances: the European Festival of Ancient Greek and Latin, in March, for the national "Spring of Poets" weekend. The "Fête du Livre", each Eastern week-end. And also, the Night of the Books (August), "Lire en Fête" (October), Treasures of Bécherel (December). Charming guest rooms, Salons de Thé for the Tea Times - with the special "madeleines" (pastries) of Mrs. Edith Guimard, exhibitions : something quite rare and exclusive in Brittany, near from Dinan.
