I believe that the azygos vein enters the Inferior Vena Cava and not the Superior Vena Cava. My information comes from Grant's Atlas of Anatomy by Anne Agur and Arthur Dalley and is from the 11th edition.

No, it's the superior vena cava. Check the last sentence on section 1.73. The part that connects with the SVC is called the arch of the azygos vein, and it's fairly substantial. Check section 1.75...you can see it empty into the SVC. Mauvila 05:57, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
