[edit] Chart Performance

After the album was released in early November 1996, the song quickly positioned itself in the Mexican Top 10 and climbed to number 1 in only 4 weeks, lasting 14 weeks at that spot. The song also peaked at number one in all Central American nations, as well as in Colombia and Chile and became a Top 10 single in all of South America, including Brazil, prompting the release of Tierna La Noche in Portuguese. In the U.S., the song fared well, as it managed to stay on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart for over 40 weeks, peaking at number 8.
