Axel A. Weber

Prof. Axel A. Weber is the current president of the Deutsche Bundesbank.
Mr. Weber was born March 8, 1957 in Kusel, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. He studied economics and management at the University of Constance from 1976 til 1982. From 1982-1988 he worked as research assistant in the field of monetary economics at the University of Siegen and was awarded a Doctorate in 1987.
From 1998-2002 he was Director of the Center for Financial Studies in Frankfurt am Main. From 2001-2004 Professor of international economics at the University of Cologne and 2002-2004 Member of the German Council of Economic Experts.
Axel A. Weber has been President of the Deutsche Bundesbank and Member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank since 30 April 2004.
