The AVUS always was completely in the Western Sectors. The Checkpoint Dreilinden/Drewitz was south of the village of Nikolassee, about one mile away form the original South Turn there. The shortening from 19km down to 8km had nothing to do with Berlin Wall or similar international politics. Also there was never a banking in any of the southern turns. Only the Northern turn was banked between 1937 and 1967.
