The Avro Tudor was a piston-engined airliner based on the Avro Lincoln bomber, itself a descendent of the famous Avro Lancaster. It was designed by Avro's engineer and designer, Roy Chadwick, who was killed in 1947 aboard a Tudor which crashed on takeoff a due to a servicing error. In practice, the aircraft was seen as little more than a four-engined Douglas Dakota, and few orders were forthcoming.

Early Tudors had a short, rounded, fin and rudder; this was discovered to provide insufficient directional stability, and so in later aircraft a taller, straight-edged, fin/rudder combination of greater overall area was fitted.

The Tudor was used as the basis for the Avro Ashton experimental jet aircraft.
