Avril Hoare has worked in the RTÉ Newsroom since 1999.

She was a regular presenter of RTÉ 2fm news and has been a reporter on RTÉ Radio 1's News At One. In 2001 she became part of the RTÉ 2fm The Full Irish team. She also stands in for Gerry Ryan in his absence and during the long summer months. Previously Avril worked in commercial radio and local newspapers. She began her career in RTÉ as a freelance contributor to the RTÉ 2fm Drivetime show. She is currently presenter of RTÉ 2fm Newsbeat bulletins and hosts her own show on RTÉ 2fm on Tuesday and Friday evenings.

Avril is from Coolock in Dublin and is married with two children.
