Avonmouth Docks

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Avonmouth Docks are part of the Port of Bristol, in England. They are situated on the eastern side of the mouth of the Avon, with the Royal Portbury Dock on the western side, where the river joins the Severn estuary, within Avonmouth.

Avonmouth Docks have become one of the UK's major ports for chilled foods, especially fruit and vegetables.

The docks are now operated by The Bristol Port Company, who also operate Royal Portbury Dock, and have done since 1991 when they purchased a 150 year lease from Bristol City Council.
