Revolution Peak, formerly known as Dreispitz, but now renamed either Independence Peak, Abu Ali ibn Sena (or Avicenna) is the fourth highest mountain in the Pamirs range of Tajikistan. The mountain consists of three snow and ice covered summits and its northwest face is the source of the Fedchenko Glacier.
The peak was discovered by a joint Russian-German team in 1928, whose attempt to climb it failed due to deep snow and avalanche danger. The first ascent was made in 1954 by a Russian team led by A. Ugarov. In July 2006, according to [1], the Tajik government renamed it after the Persian scientist Avicenna, but this is disputed by a more recent Tajik presidential web page [2], which claims that this peak is now "Independence Peak" and the peak more widely known as Lenin Peak should now be Abu Ali ibn Sena (Avicenna).
