- Autolycus (or "Autólykos") in Greek mythology was a renowned thief and wrestler.
- In A Winter's Tale by William Shakespeare, "Autolycus" is the name of a thieving pedlar.
- In Hercules: the Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess, Autolycus is a character, played by Bruce Campbell, who styles himself "the King of Thieves." The character was inspired by the mythic figure.
