- 1816 - Francis Greenway is appointed as the government's Civil Architect.
- 1932 - The Grey Street Bridge, later renamed the William Jolly Bridge, is opened in Brisbane.
- 1985 - Sallyanne Atkinson was elected as Brisbane’s Lord Mayor, the first woman to hold the post and the first woman Lord Mayor in Australia.
