Description |
The map shows the tribal districts of the aborigines of the 'Warungowa' (or 'Burdegowa') region around the cities of Townsville and Thuringowa, whose location is indicated by the red-filled circle (which is placed on the site of Townsville, however, Thuringowa lies just west of it). For most tribes two more or less different names are given due to the fact, that both of them or even more are used in the literature. My map is based mainly on the map of Norman Barnett Tindale, which can be looked at online on the pages of the South Australian Museum [1]. (Besides, the relatively large river on the map is the Burdekin.)
