Austrian Open
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Austrian Open is a men's professional golf tournament on the European Tour. Its sponsored name for 2006 is the BA-CA Golf Open Presented by Telekom Austria. It was first played in 1990 as the Austrian Open and was a European Tour event for seven straight years up to 1996 under a variety of names. It then dropped down to the Challenge Tour schedule from 1997 to 2005, with a sharp reduction in prize money. In 2006 it is back on the main tour. The 2006 prize fund was initially announced as €1 million, but has been increased to €1.3 million. [1] This sum is below average for a European Tour event.
