Australian Wine Research Institute

The Australian Wine Research Institute, established in 1955, is owned by the country’s wine industry and is funded by grape growers and wineries with matching funds from the federal government. Its mission is "to advance the competitive edge of the Australian wine industry through the delivery of world class research, development, extinsion and service."

The Institute’s three main functions are;

  1. To conduct and communicate research into wine composition and sensory characteristics
  2. To promote industry development and support
  3. To transfer research findings to practice
