Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The members of the Australian Opera and Ballet orchestra (AOBO) form one of the busiest and most versatile orchestras in Australia. Its home is one of the most famous modern buildings in the world, the Sydney Opera House, and the principal role of the AOBO is to be the indispensable orchestral partner of Australia's two premiere performing arts companies, Opera Australia and The Australian Ballet. In a typical year in Sydney the Orchestra will give some 175 performances of more than a dozen operas and more than 80 performances of four ballets. The Orchestra will work with perhaps a dozen different conductors, mastering performing traditions and repertoire ranging from Monteverdi to Berg and perform several Gala Concerts.
