The Australian Cup is a Weight for Age horse race for thoroughbred racehorses run over 2000 metres, at Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne, Australia in March. Prizemoney in 2006 is AUD$1.0 million.

Makybe Diva won this race in 2005 in the Australian record time of 1:58:73, which beat Northerly's previous record.

  • From 1863 to 1942 run over 18 furlongs (approx 3600m).
  • From 1943 to 1962 run over 17 furlongs 110 yards (approx 3500m).
  • 1963 was run over 2 miles (approx 3200m).
  • 1964 onwards over 10 furlongs / 2000m.
  • From 1982 to 1986 was run as a Handicap.
