Austere (band)

Austere is an anonymous electronic music group specializing in ambient, dark ambient, drone, glitch-ambient, downtempo-style drum and bass and minimalist music. The group first started working together in 1998 and is based in the Pacific Northwest.
The group's work draws upon composer Steve Reich's concept of Process Music. They have worked with groups including Abstract Audio Systems, and In The Now. The have also contributed music to films, and wrote the soundtrack for The Thin Horizon, an independent film written, directed and produced by Michael Peters.
Austere's members have recorded solo works, as The Mystifying Oracle and Freq. Magnet.
