Augustin von Alveld

Augustin von Alveld or Alvelt (1480-ca. 1535) was a teacher and provincial for Saxony of the Franciscan order, who was opposed to Martin Luther on the question of papal authority. He was born in Alfeld, near Hildesheim; was a teacher at Leipzig (1520); served as a guardian for noble minors in Halle (1524); and was provincial for the Franciscan order in Saxony (1529-1532). He died before 1535.
