Augustów chase 1945

The Augustów chase 1945 (Polish Obława augustowska) was an extraordinary operation undertaken by Soviet forces of the Red Army, the NKVD and SMERSH, in assistance of UB and LWP group from June 10 up to June 25, 1945 against former Armia Krajowa soldiers in Suwałki and Augustów region in Poland.

In result more than 2000 Polish anticommunist fighters were captured and detained in Russian filtration camps, 600 of them were probably murdered. This action was conducted simultaneousely on territory of occupied Lithuania as well.
