The Auckland Rugby Football Union (ARFU) is the governing body of rugby union in the Auckland isthmus territorial authority in the North Island in New Zealand. Its colours are navy blue and white and are used in their jerseys' hoop design. The senior representative team plays their home matches at Eden Park.

The union was formed in 1883 and is one of New Zealand's most celebrated provincial sides. There are twenty clubs under the union that play in the Auckland Club Rugby Championship.
The ARFU's senior (1st Division) team is the most successful side in New Zealand provincial rugby.
[edit] Ranfurly Shield
Auckland have won 152 out of 193 matches defending the Ranfurly Shield, the most coveted prize in New Zealand rugby. Between 14 September 1985 and 18 September 1993, Auckland defended the Ranfurly Shield for 61 consecutive challenges. Auckland has also won the National Provincial Championship (the predecessor to today's Air New Zealand Cup) 15 times. All of these achievements are provincial rugby union records.

Players from Auckland make the core of the Super Rugby franchise the Blues, which competes in the Super 14 as the franchise is based in Auckland. Auckland have also supplied a greater number of All Blacks than any other province.
