Auchterarder (Scottish Gaelic: Uachdar Ardair) is a small town located in Perth and Kinross, Scotland and home to the famous Gleneagles Hotel. The mile and a half long High Street of Auchterarder gave the town its popular name of the "Lang Toon". It lies to the north of the Ochil Hills.
There used to be an aviation museum nearby, however it closed in the late 80s.
In 1834 a controversy over patronage in the selection of a parish minister was the first in a chain of events which led ultimately to the 1843 schism in the Church of Scotland. The remains of this church, the tower, have recently been renovated and there is a plaque explaining what the church used to look like.
Auchterarder was the village closest to the 31st G8 summit of world leaders, held at The Gleneagles Hotel in 2005.

Popular Scouse / Scottish pop combo, The Heyze, were formed in Auchterarder. The band are currently recording their first album for Regional Records and caused controversy in 2006 when singer Lucas called Bob Dylan "A Commie Rat" whilst supporting him at London's Royal Albert Hall.
