[edit] Campus

The main Auburn University campus occupies most of the southwestern corner of the town of Auburn, Alabama. The traditional entrance to campus is known as "Toomer's Corner," the intersection of College and Magnolia streets. Campus extends from that corner down both streets all the way to University Avenue, the Auburn bypass. The campus is d

Auburn's campus is broken into five distinct sections. Central Campus is the oldest of these, and makes up the majority of the academic buildings. In this section, you will find many of the major Colleges and Schools in the University, such as the College of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts.

[edit] featured article

Have you guys ever considered applying for consideration as a featured article? This article is very thorough and meets, IMO, most of the requirements, tangible and intangible, to be a featured article. The first step for consideration as a featured article is to request peer-review, the procedure of which can be found here. Ttownfeen 23:26, Apr 29, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Universities

We need to keep an eye on Wikipedia:WikiProject_Universities. Could some of the guidelines be applied here to improve the article structure? -- Fingers-of-Pyrex 16:01, 2005 May 12 (UTC)

[edit] Reintegration and article length

I've re-integrated the Athletics and Traditions sections for several reasons.

  • The article length is not significantly above what is considered generally acceptable per Wikipedia:Article size.
  • A sampling of other comparable universty articles uncovered no other with a breakout like this.
  • The content that was moved is far more germane to what is important to AU family/culture than other text that might be trimmed such as the Housing and Greek sections.

Although I would like assume good faith (WP:FAITH) on the part of the anon editor who split the article and say it was just overzealousness, I would note that the split was one of a series of edits (string-edits) that initally masked vandalism added to that section just before the split. I agree with the merge-back. I've redirected Auburn University Athletics to Auburn University. — Fingers-of-Pyrex 20:34, July 11, 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, I had planned to submit for deletion, but that is the more appropriate action. Autiger 23:56, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Plagiarism/Copyright

User 216.226.180.2 is attempting to insert copyrighted material verbatim from this website. Please be on the lookout for any other infringing material he/she may have inserted. Littlerob1221 19:59, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] History

This history section has become too long. I suggest creating a seperate article, such as History of Auburn University and collapsing the section to main highlights only. The same probably needs to be done with athletics, but definitely with history. Ttownfeen 22:48, 11 November 2005 (UTC)

Toni Tennille is listed both as a graduate and a non-graduate. This needs to be fixed. DesScorp 9:47, 30 November 2005

Either the Plainsman or the Corner recently did an article on urban legends. They addressed the issue of the soroity houses/dorms, and determined that this was not true. I will try to find the article. Audrey i dont know if this is going to work...http://www.theplainsman.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2006/01/19/43cfae91c061e?in_archive=1

Could there be a history page on Samford Hall / or a link to one? I have a page on the clock / bell tower hosted on the Auburn web servers that I would like to wikify. I have listed the link under the General Interest section. Also, could some of this information be incorporated into the history section / sub-article? Thanks, Dennibr 01:29, 14 October 2006 (UTC)dennibr

[edit] Probation information

156.33.96.28 has repeatedly added the following unsourced, incorrect information to the article:

Auburn also holds the distinction of being second, only to SMU, in the amount of NCAA violations.

As of 2006, Auburn is tied for third with four other schools. I have corrected the article twice with the following:

As of 2006, Auburn has been penalized for seven major NCAA infractions [1].

I will update the article for a third time. — Fingers-of-Pyrex 17:57, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP Fields

WP Fields was NOT the President of Auburn University from 1999-2006; I have removed that line. William van Muse was the president 1992-2001, William F. Walker was the president 2001-2004, and William Richardson has been the president since 2004. http://www.auburn.edu/administration/president/pastpresidents.html Littlerob1221 20:38, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Famous Alumni

Richard Marcinko (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_Marcinko) is another famous alum that should be added to the list.

Billy Hitchcock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Hitchcock) should be added to the list also. Did he graduate in 1941 or 1942?

[edit] NY Times Article

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned anything about the recent article in the NY Times on the Auburn athletes called "Top Grades and No Class Time for Auburn players." Besselfunctions 22:17, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

Because none of the barners will allow it. The same way they don't like to talk about the fact that aubarn leads the SEC in NCAA violations either. Apparently the 'facts' are whatever the online librarians feel like publishing. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.152.102.56 (talk • contribs) 22:10, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sources Needed

There are only two named sources in this entire article; that really needs to be fixed. AuburnPilotTalk 03:54, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
