Auburn, New South Wales

Auburn is a suburb in the Local Government Area of Auburn Council in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, about 15 kilometres west of the Sydney central business district. The suburb has a train station (on the South line and Western line) and a hospital with basic 24-hour emergency facilities on Norval and Hargrave Streets. Its postcode is 2144.

Auburn prides itself as having one of the largest refugee communities in Australia. With a very high percentage of its population coming predominantly from Lebanese, Turkish and Vietnamese backgrounds; Auburn also has the fastest growing Iraqi and Sudanese communities in the country. - Jack Lang had a long and close association with Auburn, setting up a successful real estate business there. He went on to serve on the local council, eventually becoming Mayor. He died in Auburn in 1975.
- Warren Mundine is the first Aboriginal president of the Australian Labor Party. Born in Grafton in 1956, Warren and his family lived in Auburn in the mid-1960s.
- Myuran Sukumaran, one of the Bali Nine.
