Atrial volume receptors

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Atrial volume receptors are low pressure baroreceptors found in the atria.

When pressure drops in the atria, indicating a drop in blood volume, a signal is sent from the atrial volume receptors to the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus, in turn, stimulates the production of vasopressin (ADH). [1]
