[edit] Ratings

Altantika continues to tanked on the ratings game due to slow pacing and uninteresting character but later on reached high (but not impressive) when the lead stars came out in the series.

[edit] Trivia

  • The theme song is sung by Asia's Song Bird, Regine Velasquez, and is titled "Maghihintay Ako" (translates to: "I'll Be Waiting"). Watch video with lyrics
  • Originally Iza Calzado, Tanya Garcia, Karylle and Antoinette Taus were supposed to play the four princesses. It should be noted that all of the four actresses were leading ladies of Dingdong Dantes at one point of his career in GMA Network produced soap operas.
  • Diana Zubiri was cast as one of the princesses but had to drop out because of her fear of deep water. Pauleen Luna was also part of the cast but had to drop out.
  • Barracud is Ariel Rivera's third all-out villain role in television. His first was in the now-defunct GMA produced television soap opera "Narito ang Puso ko" in 2003 (with Jolina Magdangal), where he played the role of Amoro San Victores, who was always plotting to steal San Victores' wealth. His second villain role came in last year in a GMA Network action telefantasya "Sugo", where he played the role of Samuel. In an interview prior to joining "Atlantika", Ariel earlier expressed his intention to secure more meaty roles ranging from dark to villainous, may it be in the movies or in television, so as to improve his craft as an actor.
  • In real life, Gardo Versoza and Jean Garcia once had a relationship. In Atlantika, they are paired together once again as King Agat and Queen Celebes respectively. They have also previously worked together in the ABS-CBN soap opera "It Might be You", which was pitted with GMA's "Twin Hearts" in the same time slot back in 2003.
  • The series was originally scheduled to air its pilot episode on October 2, 2006 but due to the Luzon-wide blackout triggered by the typhoon Milenyo, it was posponed and moved to the next day to re-air the last episode of Majika for the benefit of those who were not able to watch it during the blackout.
  • Azita is portraited by Desiree del Valle from its original cast, Tin Arnaldo for an unknown reason.
