Astrid Muñoz

Astrid Muñoz (born 1974 in San Juan, Puerto Rico) - Supermodel.
Muñoz received her primary and secondary education in San Juan. She was the first of three siblings; her father, Teodoro was a nuclear engineer and her mother, Astrid, a retired executive secretary. They were both very strict in their upbringing of Muñoz. She enjoyed going to the beach and reading fashion magazines as a young girl. In 1988, when Muñoz was 14 years old, she was offered an opportunity to model in Spain, but her mother objected.
In 1993, when she was 19 years old, Muñoz went to Miami to visit a friend; while there she met a modeling agent who suggested that she model in France. Muñoz left for France without consulting her parents. In Paris, she became one of the first Latinas to break through as a model.
After working in Europe for several years, Muñoz relocated to New York, where she continued to appear on the covers of the most renowned fashion magazines and to work in many high fashion campaigns. In 1998, Muñoz married in Morocco. Her wedding celebration lasted three days and was televised in E! Entertainment Television's "Wedding Celebrities" program in various occasions until 2005. In 2005, Muñoz moved to Paris and in June published her first photos in the Vogue French, Japanese and German versions of Voque Magazine and in the Spanish magazine Hola, Town and Country (NY) April 2006, ES (London),among many others.

Muñoz is currently divorced and works exlusively for the modeling agency IMG Models NY-Paris. According to the 2006 June edition of "Hola de España" magazine, Muñoz, is amongst the 100 of the most beautiful women in the world. That same month she was also featured in "GQ en español".
