The Assyrian Triangle was the proposed Assyrian state after the collapse of the Ottoman empire at the end of World War I. At that time, the area had a large Assyrian population and more Assyrians were arriving at the area after fleeing from the Hakkari and Mardin region, during the ongoing Assyrian genocide. It is located at the core of their ethnic homeland, which also partially overlaps with Kurdistan.
