Askrigg

Askrigg is a small village and civil parish in Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is part of the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. The village and its parish are positioned in Upper Wensleydale, 12 miles west of the main town, Leyburn, and 5 miles east of Hawes, the home of Wensleydale cheese. According to the 2001 census it had a population of 411. The village of Askrigg has a rich history as a former market town, but in more recent years it has become famous for its role in the TV series 'All creatures great and small'. The village is now popular with tourists and benefits from beautiful scenery and amenities such as 2 local shops, and 4 restaurants or pubs.
